Bear Spray
With the recent hot weather we've been having, a can of bear spray I had sitting in the sun did this:

Unfortunately, it was on the dash...

Wow... Hope you weren't in the truck at the time.

Re: Bear Spray
Thankfully, I wasn't in it, it was parked. I guess it would have been really bad to be in it when it happened. I don't know which would be worse getting a face full of pepper spray (notice all the slime on the inside of the glass) or getting hit by the can with force enough to break the windshield.
I don't normally keep bear spray on the dash. I removed the trans tunnel and console where it's usually stored. A friend told me he had a can of Coke do the same thing.
Now to deal with the smell...

Yikes that's bad luck.... You are still breaking bits on your truck and not even leaving the driveway
Don did have a couple of second hand 110 wind shields if ICBC doesn't cover it.
Cheers,
Andy

A few days of rain will soon have the interior smelling like it should....Doc Tari wrote: Now to deal with the smell...

Re: Bear Spray
I had an accident with bear spray a few years ago and got a good blast in the face and chest. Luckily I was in a creek at the time, but was unable to keep my face out of the water for about 45 minutes. I had to throw out the shirt I was wearing despite washing it a dozen times. If I wore it I'd be itchy in a few minutes.
Another bear spray story, I worked in a logging camp where we had a bear that had started to come into camp on a regular basis. To discourage it, we took a can of bear spray, poured honey on it and stuck a few slices of bread to it, and left it out for the bear to find. The bear started chewing on the can, it went FOOM releasing all its contents in the bear's mouth. The Bear paused, looked around, and then proceeded to continue chewing on the exploded can.
I can attest that Bear spray is VERY effective against people, not so sure about bears.

Re: Bear Spray
Thankfully, I can't say from personal experience how effective it is against either humans or bears. Short of a firearm that has enough stopping power, pepper spray is what's recommended as the most effective deterrent by rangers and other wildlife experts and they say you really have to get it into the bear's eyes and nose. I only know that I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end...

Re: Bear Spray
Bear spray has a best before date and does loose it's effectiveness when past.
Bummer about the windshield though....how's the smell inside the truck?
