Brits on the Beach Sunday July 13th 2014
Hi Everyone
Sunday July 13th is the annual Ladysmith Brits on the Beach show and shine. Great show its free and open to all OLD English motorbikes and motor cars. (Bring your modern defender nobody will know it is not old. Land Rover knew it was not broken so they never fixed it)
Lots of other things to do and look at if for some reason gazing at and talking about old British cars is not your number one hobby.
Supposedly the parking is going to be a little differant this year as they are expecting over 300 vehicles so we may want to meet up out side the park and drive in as a group. The Duncan group will be meeting at the usual spot- Tim Hortons across from the BC forest museum just north of Duncan for a 8:30 sharp departure up to the show. We should be there around 9:00am.
So whos coming? Heres a link to the show ....

Thanks for the info on the event.
My family and I (wife and 3 young sons) will be spending a week on Vancouver Island for vacation starting on July 12th. We are travelling in a motorhome and the Disco. Base camp will be the RV park in Parksville where the sand building competition is being held over the weekend. We will try and swing by on the 13th to say hi if we can. We will be be in red Disco.

Count us in. Me, Christina and the D90. We plan to spend Saturday in Parksville. Spend the night at a B&B. Join you in Laddysmith on Sunday morning. Please specify where we should meet and at what time.

Hi Ron
We should be up to Ladysmith by 9:00am. Once you turn East off the main Island highway to Transfer beach go down a couple of hundred yards and the road opens up for parking beside the road, wait for us there. We will try to save a few spots inside the show area if possible for late arrivals.
See you next Sunday.

Hey acg... It should be a little over an hour from down town Parksville to Transfer beach. just head south and watch for the signs!
We are at the Vancouver Island Music festival that weekend, but I am hoping to leave a day early and make the show in "Wedgewood" Weather looks great, I'm debating the top at this point. its more fun to drive it without, but it looks so cool :)
Transfer beach is an awesome family park. a great playground and water park. mostly sandy beach (not as nice as Parksville's) but there are bay cruises, kayak rentals and other attractions. The concession is very busy, but town is close enough to walk or a short drive to great food (we like "The Beanery")
See you there!

By the way, I'm broadcasting the morning show from the sand sculpting "pound up" on Friday morning for The Lounge 99.9 FM. Stop by if you like. Should be there untill 10ish...perhaps with the land Rover...

Gromit,
Thanks for the info. We had a slight change in plans... the Disco will not be coming along this trip. I have a sligh water pump leak and won't be able to get it replaced before we leave for Vancouver Island. Therefore, we will be travelling in our motorhome only.
Will keep an eye out for your booth.

We made it to the Parksands RV resort this evening. Unfortunately, we will not be able to make it on Sun. Just realized the World Cup final is on Sun afternoon. We then have to make the trek from Parksville to Tofino by Sunday evening. Enjoy your time at the car show.

Next year! For sure!
The show was great, met some neat people and enjoyed chatting with other Land rover enthusiasts.. learned a lot! Also got to spend a couple hours relaxing n the beach with my family.. that was the best part :)
Looking forward to next year already, and especially looking forward to more time with Rover lander people... guess I should pony up and join...
