Why is diesel more expensive up there?

It's the other way round in the Lower Mainland.

I guess it comes down to demand ; PG is a pulp mill town where the majority of folks are tied into the wood industry . on average there are 250 logging trucks [ all diesel ] plus 100's of chip trucks passing through PG on a daily basis . most 4x4's around here are 3/4 and 1 ton diesel pickups . for example , on our street we have 15 houses with 14 diesel pickups of various brands . all logging companies in our area [ Quesnel north to Bear Lake south ] with PG in between use 100's of diesel pickups . not to mention the logging equipment themselves [ loaders etc. ] . also , our VW dealer up here outsells gas pots 3 to 1 in favour of diesels . our city of PG primarily uses diesel trucks and machinery . the list goes on !

Hey Withabix, can you tell me where I can buy diesel cheaper than regular gas down here in the lower mainland, I'd love to know?

Everywhere east of Aldergrove pretty much...

Usually 7-8c/litre less than gas.

Gas currently $1.41

Diesel currently around $1.34

Well that's what I figured you'd say, not really much of the lower mainland then at all? Pretty much all of Metro Vancouver, or in old speak the 24 municipalities/electoral areas/villages of the GVRD, diesel costs more than regular gas.

$1.11 today in Surrey: Esso 7195 King George Blvd & 72nd Ave
http://www.bcgasprices.com/index.aspx?fuel=D if that is real!!

Diesel is a bit cheaper in Vancouver than gas right now, it appears. Still crazy high with all of those extra taxes, highest in the country is appears.

Ok except for the erroneous posting of 1.11/L at some station in Surrey. Everywhere else in Metro Vancouver it's more expensive, trust me, I live here.

Best prices show around 2 cents cheaper right now for diesel versus regular gas. $1.48 best diesel price in Vancouver, $1.50 best RUG. Keep in mind gas prices have been rising lately. Diesel has been holding steadish. Normally diesel is more expensive in winter due to heating demand and cheaper in summer.
