Your head was likely not updated for unleaded fuel. the unleaded fuel eats exhaust valves and seats pretty fast and prematurely kills the head. A valve job on it is pretty straightforward, but make sure to include new valves, seats and guides that are hardened to withstand unleaded fuel.
Check with Aart Vanderstar in Langley or Alan Simpson outside of Merritt as they do the job fairly routinely.
