Time for a Peg Island run - Sunday Feb 23rd

#1 Post by chilliwack » Sun Feb 02, 2014 5:06 pm

Took a quick scout around Peg today. Water is way down with the initial crossing at about the top of the tires. After that its cobble & sand to play in.

You can check out the location here

http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php ... fa5edd7af8

or here

http://gps.motionx.com/maps/8059d68fb29 ... 3766f41264

And just in case anybody notices, I started the two map apps at different times.

I'm not available on the Feb 8/9 but the next two weekends are good.

If we stay out of the narrow trails there is plenty of sand runs and hill climbs and can be a non-scratching run.

Cheers, Roger

or the everytrail version

gives you an idea of how big the area is

Hey Roger,

Thanks for getting this going... Yes the plan is to take a run out to Peg Island, Chilliwack for our February club run.
The date we had in mind is Sunday 23rd Feb so book that day off now, mark it on you calendars, we hope to have a BBQ / camp fire lunch stop half way around the island, meeting at 9.30am at the Lickman Road Tim Horton's in Chilliwack on Sunday Feb 23rd back on the road by 4pm (ish)... more details to come soon. Let us know if you are planning on coming along?

Cheers,
Andy

Some short, fun videos from our last Peg Island trip, thanks to Bernie ......

Rats! I was so close to making it for a club run, it's been so long since I've made one.

Alas, just found out this morning I will be away for work again this weekend.

Sorry Roger, next one.

It's hard to say how much clearance you will need as the terrain is always changing. You should be prepared for some water crossings, cross ditches, sand and mud. Check out the video links I posted earlier for an idea of the terrain you will need to tackle.
Yes, if you have a friend driving a non Land Rover they are welcome to join the group.

Cheers,
Andy

Absolutely! From your signature, I definitely want to see a CLS AMG off roading!

To fit in with the Land Rovers, you MUST have at least one electrical component NOT working. :D

My timing is, again, impeccable.

Next Friday I will be moving to Abbotsford, conveniently missing this outing by a week...

As before, I was in 'the valley' as recently as Wednesday!

...an entertaining trip back to Kelowna it was too!

Dress warm, its still snowing out here this morning. Also a bit of a breeze starting up so it may be windy down on the river

I'm certain I saw wild Bill E. aiding the recovery in the video. Now given all the white stuff, I'm sure Bill was not on the run willingly so is it safe to assume he was called in especially for the recovery? If not, I think a precedent has been set for future snow bound adventures Bill...
