Scepter Water Cans

#1 Post by Doc Tari » Mon Jul 29, 2013 10:55 am

Thought this might be of interest to some: Was in the Langley Princess Auto yesterday and found that they now carry nice gerry can-style plastic water and fuel cans. They're not a cheap knock-off, rather the super tough Scepter military ones made in Canada, in both 10L and 20L sizes. The small ones are $30 and the large $40. I've had mine for 6+ years and have had no issues.

They also sell a can holder but it is PA's "Power Fist" brand so I can't vouch for its quality.

Interesting... Only 40 dollars for the large fuel containers? Might have to go pick up a second one.

Hey Pete, welcome home!

I agree they appear pretty rugged and well made. I saw Bernie had bought one so I picked one up too. Fitted perfectly into the 110's rear rack along side the diesel.

Now I wont mix them up when I want to douse the campfire with water :blob6: :blob6: :blob6:

Thanks Andy, it's good to be home. I've been spending so much time away, I'm missing all the club events! Seems the best I can do lately is live vicariously through the posts and pics on the club's website. That, and expeditions to PA to excavate water cans...

I could be wrong (probably am), but I'm pretty sure they were selling the water containers off for $40. The gas cans were $60, and then you have to buy a spout (Somebody clearify?). BTW, I have a line on the old style US military metal gas cans from a friend, but the seals apperantly leak. Anybody know where I might find new seals?

Cheaper from DS Tactical if your local...

And in different colors too... they also sell the fuel spouts (note diesel & gas are different)

I bought and use the 10L military sceptre cans for water from princess. A bit pricy, I was able to ask for 15 per cent off. I considered the 20L size, but realized I could only carry two of the 10L sizes any long distance by foot, should they be needed to replace coolant in a landy, etc.

I went by DS Tactical on the weekend and snapped a picture of their Scepter Fuel and water contactiners. Also note the "spares" they also stock for the containers.

Just saw they got the NATO style cans. Don't know too much about it, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the cap to close, so I'd guess they're not the best of quality.

In your photo, the cap is not forward enough. The cap hinge allows it to move front to back.
