18" rims on an LR4
Good news, we've managed to put 18" rims onto our LR4.
We used a 2.5cm wheel spacer and 18" OEM LR3 rims. They just make it over the calipers.
The truck is lifted about 3" now and running 33" tires.
Just thought I'd pass that along in case anyone was wondering if it is possible.
Cheers
Ray

Fair enough Bill, I will go outside and take a couple of quick shots with my iphone and email them to you. Is it OK if you post them up? I always have problems posting images here.

Re: 18" rims on an LR4
Well, it's not MY LR4, we have it as a long term project vehicle.
So far I've been impressed by the platform, as a long-distance vehicle it's super comfortable, and the off-road capability is fantastic, especially with the additional lift, the sliders, and the steel bumpers, as the biggest challenge on the trail in stock form was approach/departure/break-over angles.
Also, with the 33's on 18" rims, we can air it down and get enough tire deformation to really make a difference in sand, and on reduced traction surfaces. Also with the 18" rim we have a lot more tire-pattern options. The truck came with 19" rims and there were very very few tires to choose from.
It really is a tank though, and coming from someone who's daily driver is a 110 on 35s, that's saying something.

The ones from Lucky 8, although I do find them a little short, but they are nicely done and well finished. We had to notch them a little for the LR4 since they were meant for the LR3 but it was straightforward.

Hmm haven't I see this LR4 on expeditionportal or is this a different one.
Looks strangely similar :-)
NM it is the same one, just saw the Overland sticker on the side.
There is a great build thread on expo if anyone is interested.

Yep same one. We are also doing a series of articles on it in the Journal.
I think Don saw it when we had it at Sema this year but that was before the tire swap.
