#1 Post by troy » Sun Nov 25, 2012 8:18 pm

hey guys , starting to get the series 2a iam building together , the one iam driving has 16 wheels on it , I have a couple sets of 15 wheels from a 73 I had and another set on my 64 parts truck , does anyone run 15 inch wheels with a 30 or 31 inch tires on their rover ? or is it all 235 85 16 s ? do not want to buy a set of 16 inch wheels if I can use the 15 s , looking tonight for tires on the internet but any 15 inch tire that is taller seems to be wider than I want, so is anyone running 15 s and if so what size tire do you have on them , thanks ...troy

16" wheels are by far the most popular, but some run 15" as it provides the maximum rubber on the sidewall. One of the guys with a Series 3 109, Greg P, has 15" wheels running BFG mud terrains. If you scroll down this list:

... you will see several old style sizes such as 30x9.50R15. The 9.50 tires are quite tall and narrow. They are still available but likely you'll have to order them in. Greg really liked his last I talked to him.

Cheers, Dave

Hey Troy,

I had the BFG M/T 30x9.50R15 on my series 2, I was really happy with the performance and feel.
You will have to adjust the steering stops a little with the bigger tyre, but no big deal.
