Advice please for a Brit bringing a hybrid to Canada

#1 Post by Richy » Fri Nov 11, 2011 7:53 am

Hi all. Can someone please advice please ? I am hoping to bring to Canada my Land Rover Lightweight hybrid over. it is based on a Range Rover, shortened chassis etc with a 200series Tdi engine with an auto 'box. :D

I am told there may be difficulties in shipping a 'hybrid' over to Canada, so stripping her down so she looks like spare parts may be best ? :?:

Also, can I get insurance for my hybrid over there ?? can anyone recomend a friendly insurance company in Canada for my old girl (still on the subject of the Land Rover !) You guy's must have modified vehicles ?........ I really don't want to sell her that's for sure !!

I doubt shipping will be a problem. You need to prove somehow it is more than 15 years old. You do not want to strip it if you want it on the road. It will need an import form to make the VIN legal.

Insurance and registration rules go by province, so you need to state where you plan to register it.
