Whipsaw run & BBQ Oct 22nd & 23rd

Just like last year we will have our Annual Whipsaw BBQ at Lodestone Lake on Saturday night Oct 22nd.
There will be two groups, one heading straight to Lodestone via Coalmont. This group will help set up, collect firewood, relax around the Lake and be merry!
The other group will head into the Whipsaw from the other end running the Whipsaw, with the aim of putting up some more road markers and general maintenance along the way.
The plan will be to join the other group at Lodestone Lake between 4-5pm.
Shawn will add details about the BBQ let us know if you intend to come along so our Top Chef can cater for our needs!. :D
Cheers, Andy

As in past years we will supply several bottles of wine. The haute cuisine consists of Hors d'oeuvre, canapé, and crudités. The entrée will be a Ragout of poulet, and dessert will be the legendary apple crumble with whipped cream. All dishes and cutlery, glasses will be supplied. We will set up several canopies to block out the wind and any bad weather. There will be a nice warm fire. Please bring a lawn chair for yourself and a blanket; the long term forecast for the area is looking good however it will be very cold at night. Anyone who would like to help is welcome. Please post your intentions so we can supply enough food.

We'll meet you Friday night at Copper Creek, then likely drive up to Lodestone with shawn in the morning Saturday to get things set up.

I'll be there with Rudy...fighting a flu bug currently so unsure of when I will be coming.

Hopefully will be all better by Thursdays meeting.

Hi Andy,
I'll be coming up early Saturday morning to rendezvous with the group running the Whipsaw from the HWY 3 side. Are we meeting at the intersection of the Whipsaw road and HWY 3 or somewhere else? What time?

For the group running the trail from Highway #3 end;
Those going up Friday afternoon / evening we will be camping down by the river at Copper creek (if you dont know that location let me know and I will email directions). Then Saturday morning at 10am sharp to meet in the layby at the Highway #3 / Whipsaw Creek turnoff.

For the group going directly to Lodestone Lake from the Coalmont end, make you way to Lodestone Lake on Saturday day time. (let us know if you dont know your way and we will email direction or arrange for you to meet someone).

Prepare for a cold night (below freezing) at Lodestone Lake.
We will discuss in more detail at Thursdays club meeting.

Cheers, Andy

Whipsaw Roundup

I'm leaving the Bedford at home (so's there's little chance I will fall off anything!) and.... as the Lightweight remains in several thousand pieces I'll be hitching a ride with Bill Eastwood. I emailed Shaun that I was coming on the trip earlier in September but I guess (like his late response) my name got left off the list. I can feel the love Shaun.

Whipsaw BBQ 2011

#15 Post by ANDYD » Sun Oct 23, 2011 5:42 pm

Just back from an excellent weekend, Shawn did an awesome job as ever looking after us all. Big, Big thankyou to Shawn, Pam and all the helpers that were ready at Lodestone when the main group arrived hungry and tired.
It was a BIG group to cater for (16 trucks?) but we were all successfully wined & dined around the campfire while the snow came down
Very Chilly night, it was only for Mad Dogs, Englishmen, and a bunch of crazy RoverLanders!
Cheers, Andy

PS- Anyone with photos to share, send them in to Bill and he will get them posted into the Gallery - [email protected]

Thanks for the great time, and for letting a non Rover owner come along for the fun.

I'm still a little sore, and have spent most of my morning looking for new "softer" tires for the Rokon. My back tells me the 40 year old tractor tires might need to be replaced.

Yes it was a great trip, thanks to Shawn and all his worker bees for having a welcoming camp ready for us a Lodestone. I've posted photos in the gallery including this one of "I'm still sore" Alex.

Thanks from another non-Rover owner!

Appreciate you letting a Chevy Tracker barge your run, hope I didn't ruin your group shots..

Took a few photos myself, check em out Here

Also got a little video of me making my way down the ravine here -

Fun times, thanks again!
