My 110 is on its way............

#1 Post by wowa » Wed Jul 27, 2011 11:18 pm

Hi all, first post!
We returned to BC after 9 months in Ireland where I restored a 110. It is following behind us and should hit Vancouver mid-august. Can't wait! Much more the terrain they were built for than UK here on Vancouver Island.

This is the restoration........

We are based in Comox Valley and I was hoping to meet up with anyone familiar with Defenders. I am also needing to source a local mechanic happy to work on her when needed. If anyone knows anyone in the Valley or maybe even down towards Nanaimo please let me know.

I understand there is an outfit called Sussex Automotive in Parksville who seems to deal with anything British- any experience?

Anyway, hi and looking forward to meeting some BC owners of these majestic vehicles!

Hi James,

Welcome to the forum. The truck looks great, its always nice to have one more Land Rover on the scene.

Looks like you did lots of work, thanks for sharing the photos.
What year is it?
When it is here safe and sound, maybe you can share your experience of the importing, I'm sure a few others are considering the same move.

Check out the "regional discussions - Vancouver Island" tab for your local activity. We have a fine bunch of Rover Lander members over there!

Cheers, Andy

Hello James,

Congratulations, what a fabulous job, your attention to detail is wonderful. I especially like the way you used the Wright matting, it should be a lot quieter than a regular Defender.

It certainly is a project to be proud of.

I look forward to meeting you.

Very nice 110!!!!! you can be proud on that car. Nice you went for the fire and ice edition! I was thinking of doing the same theme.

What engine do you have in it a 200 tdi?

Welcome to the group James. We have a few outings a year here on the Island but haven't done much up your way yet. The farthest north we've been is a drive to the Mount Arrowsmith Ski resort (derelict). A drive south from Cumberland to Port would put you close. Maybe we can do it again in the spring, or maybe you will find a site to take us southern Islanders up your way. Reza? Got anything for us?

Your rebuilt 110 looks great. Satisfying doing that isn't it? I did a frame-off repair to my 109 and now, a few short years later, seem to be jumping ship to a Defender 90. I was out on the weekend for a bit of back road travel. Wow! Much better performance than a 109. Even better than "my" 109. I might be sold on the 90 and have to put the Series up for sale.
