DIY Alternator Replacement on 97 RR

#1 Post by jtrenouth » Tue Apr 13, 2010 1:24 pm

Before I go and do something potentially foolish, I thought I'd ask how hard or easy is it to do a DIY alternator replacement on a 97 Range Rover 4.0?

Is this a reasonable DIY project, or is it something really best left to the professionals??

Not to put down roverlanders, but

would probably be able to answer your questions a bit better.

Go ahead and do it. Alternator replacement is not too hard at all. Basic wrench and socket job. If you need it rebuilt there are many alternator shops that can rebuild it for cheap. I used Dundee Electric on the Langley bypass.
