Raft trip / camp out April 17th & 18th

#1 Post by ANDYD » Mon Apr 12, 2010 12:39 am

Hi All,

Yes, its finally here......our first official camp out of 2010. The plan is to take the raft that was built for the 2009 Canol trip down to the beach and play around with it. The beach is located on the West side of Harrison Lake, it is a beautiful isolated beach that the club hasn't camped at before.
We will set up camp on the beach, assemble the raft, possibly float a few vehicles around to a "boat access only" cove that is just around the corner from the launch beach.
Even if you dont wish to float your Land Rover, come on down to the beach, camp out and watch the fun unfold.
The off road conditions are easy going forest service road (with some great Lake views) for the first 25-28kms and the last last 1 Km is a tricky but fun drop down to the Lake.
The meeting place will be the Sasquatch Inn a few Km's past (East) the village of Deroche on highway 7.

Meeting Time- 9am on Saturday morning April 17th
If you dont want to camp out, come for the day and head back late afternoon.
For an idea of the terrain, check out last weeks scouting photos in the gallery.
Any questions, post here or join in with the trip discussions this Thursday at our regular monthly meeting at Ricky's.
Cheers,
Andy

Sounds good Ray, I will bring your Certificate and Goodies won at Founders Day.

The long range forcast has gone from rain to sun to clouds to sun to rain to clouds ... I guess they really have no idea until that morning!

better bring snow boots and sun screen and cover all the bases 8)

My friend Drew and I had a awesome time hanging out for the day. We were definitely under prepared and got very hungry by dinner time. My truck only sustained minor steering damage when I hit a stump on the way out. Other than that the p38 performed flawlessly.
Should have camped for the night. Next time for sure. And hopefully the girlfriend will come.
Thanks to all who came, it was a lot of fun!
