What to do after RoRo to Tacoma
I am in the process of bringing a truck over from the UK. If I send the truck RoRo to Tacoma, how does one go about getting temp insurance to get it back to Canada? Or must I trailer it?

Thanks for the reply Bernie. I have talked to ICBC and that part of the shipping should be no problem.
One issue that I have yet to look into is the port costs in Tacoma. What sort of figures should I expect?
Am I given a specific time and date to collect? Or do I show up one day and spend 8 hours waiting for it to be unloaded?
Another issue which I am still pondering is getting the truck to the port in the UK. Can a canadian citizen insure a purchased vehicle for a day? Or must I lorry it to the docks?

I'd think it best for you to get it transported by a vehicle moving company on a trailer.... unless your used to driving in the UK.
Insurance would not be too much a problem but prob not cheap. Best to try one of the specalist companies like Footman James. Look in the back of LRO their are plenty of adverts.
You could try getting a fellow landy owner in the UK to drive it for you, if they have full comp cover they can normally drive another vehicle 3rd party. Drop a post onto LRUK forum and ask around.
Where from.... and to ?

Well, I will be in the UK in May visiting family. Would like to pickup a 90 at the same time and have it shipped back. No particular area of purchase yet. Will be sticking to "southern". Would ship out of Southampton or Bristol depending on proximity of purchase.
Just trying to figure out how I can go about it. I will have to inquire with family about how they insure vehicles, to see about someone else driving the truck for me possibly.
I still have to inquire about port fees in Tacoma. Would like to find out a ballpark figure for those, so I am prepared and won't have any surprises.
Thanks for the help.
