97 disco fan wobble

Does the viscous coupling on the waterpump fan assemmbly have play built into it :?:
The fan blades can be moved forward and back about 1/2 an inch, The viscous coupling is tight on the out put shaft of the water pump. You can see the movement between the shaft and the viscous coupling.
My attention was drawn to a different rumble or vibration at start up.

Replaced viscous coupling. no more wobble no more engine rumble!!

Im trying to remove my fan clutch... just moved to Vancouver, was wondering what you used for tools? How did you isolate the pulley from the viscous unit? Thanks for the help.
