Can't access photo gallery

#1 Post by exmod110 » Mon Dec 15, 2008 8:48 pm

I have not been able to access the photo gallery section of the site in the past 4 days or so.... Whats going on? Probs on my end or is there a concern with the site?

some sort of a site problem. I contacted them sunday, but they couldn't give me a solution. I ran out of time time deal with it today. Perhaps tomorrow if things aren't too crazy at work...

Hi Dave,
Had a few inquiries about the photo gallery. Still seems to be down, any news?

Still a problem after 2 techs have taken a look. I'm gonna request they reboot the server tonight, so if our site is down for a few minutes...

Woo Hoo! Our photo gallery is back. It appears we were hacked by a group in Russia who somehow added a code referring every request we did to a server in Russia. Or at least that's what the programmer tells me. Please alert me right away if it happens again and I'll get our programmer on it. I think I owe him a bottle of scotch for his efforts today.

cheers, Dave

Good work Dave (and your Tech). Just a reminder of how vulnerable the electronic age is. You can leave some parchment rolled up in some cave for 2000 plus or minus years and still be able to read it, but one little virus or platform change and you can't access stuff you stored last week, HMMM?

So if we were redirected to russia were we at any risk of having our pc's being hacked or any thing like that????

Yes it is nice to be able to get back into the pics!!!!

Cheers

From what I understand, only web servers. But make sure your virus protection software is up to date anyway as it also protects against other hacks.

Ironically, a short while after we got the gallery fixed a power outage shut the entire webhosting company down for 8+ hours. Good to see its back now.

Merry Christmas!
Dave
