Anyone know what seats I can get from the wreckers that ? Like do jeeps or suzuki have seats that bolt right in? Any help or info would be greatly appreciated

I've heard of lots of different retro seat fitments for series and defenders. I personally used a couple of second row seats from a Mercury villager van because of their ability to fold completely flat, thereby allowing my bed arrangement to extend over the bulkhead in my 90. They also had the advantage of having a short seat base, this is one aspect that is the most difficult to find in other manufacturers seats. The base mounting was a little cumbersome to adapt to my 90 seat runners and special attention had to be given to the overall height of the assembly. I had to weld up an H frame out of flat bar that permitted the attachment of the seats vertical mounting bolts to a rover slider assembly. all in all I am happy with the results and it suits my needs for flat folding seats. Don't use these seats if your not up for a little fabrication though.

One of the problems I have found with series trucks (excluding the 5 door wagon) is the limited space available due to the high seat base and fixed bulkhead. Retro-fitting seems to leave little leg/belly/head room compared to the original seat cushions.
I did find that the seat backs from early 70's plymouth Cricket/dodge colt will fit in quite well. They have pins that line-up with the original series seat base so theire is little to do other than pop-out the old backs and put in the replacement. This arrangement means you use the original seat cushion but you now have a nice high-back to to rest your head against.
Did this conversion years ago to a series IIA 88... worked well... but then again... how many old circket/colt donor cars remain at the wreckers? Though I'd guess that other small cars might be a good alternative to consider, I personally prefer my series III seats.
