It is with regret that I announce the passing yesterday of a good friend and fellow Rover enthusiast, Harold Huggins. As many of you may know Harold was the driving force behind the formation of what I believe was Canada's first Land-Rover enthusiast organization ALROC (Association of Land-Rover Owners of Canada) back around 1976. It was from this beginning that many other more localized clubs came about including OVLR. Harold was also one of the founding members of the Rover-Landers of British Columbia in 1984/85. Harold was 94.

Sorry to hear that, John. Harold was around a lot more back in the late 90s when I first became involved with the club, but it was nice to know we had a founding member keeping an eye on things over the years. Last time he came to an event was the last year we had Founders Day in the big barn IIRC. Harold did a lot for the club in its early years and he will be missed.

My condolences..
John,
My sincere condolences to you and John's friends and family. I met him two years ago and we chatted about land rovers and looked at the two he had then. When I mentioned your name he smiled so I knew he had great admiration for you and felt you were a great friend.
It is sad when someone who gave so much to our passion passes on. Let' let his legency live on as a tribute.
Sincerely,

Well said Stuart, Like you I only had a few discussions with Harold over the years but it was pretty clear that Landrovers were a big part of his life's interest. John, I know your connection with Harold goes much further back than most of us and we all respect the way you helped him out in so many ways in recent years. My condolences.

As well, for those who may share a fondness for Harold's writing style and/or who may have memories of a Vancouver in a simpler time I found this

Who knows, it may even take you back for a moment to your own youth.
