trailer lights very dim!
Hey wise landygicians,
wondering if there is any magic you cand send my way. I just towed my boat and trailer home today and have the lander rover pig tail hooked up to my range rover but for some odd reason the lights are barely noticeable...... turn signals brakes and marker lights.... you know the important ones. Is the pigtali faulty or ?
looking for ward to your wisdom.
Cheers for now

Dim lights..
Dim lights normally point to low voltage or incorrect bulbs?
Is it the first time you have used the hitch connection?
cheers,
Andy

Rob,
If all the lights are dim, it's likely something that they all have in common, my bet is the ground, as Andrew points out. This is not uncommon on boat trailers given the water. Make sure there's a ground wire through the pigtail and it's not grounding through the hitch only. Also check that the ground points on the truck's pigtail and for each trailer light are clean. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Pete

thank you!
It turned out to be a combination of corroded contacts and an internal broken wire just barely making contact...... Who would have thought!
