Collector plates

Hey, is it me, or did ICBC change the requirements for collector plates? I thought that a vehicle had to be 25 years old? It is now 30 years or more, or was I previously mistaken?

I downloaded the application from the ICBC web site and it states under "Statement of Applicant"...

#3 a) is at least 25 years old
or
3 b) is at least 15 years old and
(i) is one of a limited number produced by the manufacturer for that model year
or
(ii) is one no longer manufactured because the manufacturer that owns the "trademark" or "make" of that vehicle has ceased manufacturing vehicles of any kind for at least the last 5 years.

So in a nutshell...If your vehicle is in "mint' or "restored" condition and if your vehicle was manufactured in 1983 or earlier, you would qualify to "submit an application" for collector plates. ICBC link below.

You machine does not have to be "mint" or "restored" to qualify for a collector plate. The vehicle has to be stock or fitted with period accesories available at the time of manufacture. It can't have damaged panels or have rust evident or rust damage. The interior has to be clean with no holes in either the floor or seat covers. The engine compartment has to be clean and rust free too. But that's about all so a reasonably well maintained original condition car will get collector plates with little trouble.
