Tire Chains

#27 Post by Doc Tari » Thu Nov 08, 2007 8:24 pm

Hi guys,
Just thought I'd give a quick update for anyone wondering what's up. I've been in contact with Rich from the Rover club in Seattle and he's been collecting money for his club. He expects to have a count on Friday (Nov. 9) so we can see where we stand. I hope to have more info this weekend so we can finalize things and place the order. As soon as I know more, I'll post it.

Regards,
Pete

Hi pete,

The two extra you added for me should be 285/75/R16 and 33x12.50R15

Thanks,
Don

Hey Pete,

Whats the status on the chains?

Is it too late to add another set?

Workin' on a chain gang....

#30 Post by Doc Tari » Thu Dec 06, 2007 12:34 am

Hello chain gang,
With all last weekend's white stuff, I'm sure many are wondering the status of the tire chains. The money has been paid, the order has been placed, and all sizes were in stock. The chains should be arriving in Seattle any day and as soon as they do, final arrangements will be made for transport from Seattle to me. I will be out of town beginning December 16 and returning January 2 so if they're in Vancouver within the next few days, I'll be able to get them to anyone that wants them ASAP, otherwise it will have to wait until I'm back. Sorry it's been so long but our U.S. friends were a bit slow to cough up their money (damn yankees...)

Don: Sorry but your last posting just missed the order. :(

Regards,
Pete

The chains have finally arrived!

#31 Post by Doc Tari » Sat Dec 15, 2007 9:24 am

Hello chain gang,
This morning I finally picked up the chains. A big thanks to Gord'n for bringing them up to Blaine and to Rich for organizing the orders. I paid no duty but did have to pay GST and PST at the border so the total after the exchange rate is CDN$222 for each set. Andrew, your shoe chains come to CDN$32.

If anyone wants to pick them up today, I'm available all day but I'll be out of town beginning tomorrow. I'll be back on January 2 so you can pick them up anytime after that date or I can bring them to Founder's day.

Have a great Christmas and New Year,
Pete

Hi all,
Happy New Year!

Just got back in town so I can begin handing out tire chain sets. Please let me know how/when you'd like to pick them up. I live in Langley and work in south Vancouver so I can meet you in either place or I can bring them to Founder's Day. Let me know.

Thanks,
Pete

I just got mine (Thanks Pete! :) )

I have a question... what range of tire sizes do they fit? I ordered for 255/85R16 and the ones that I got say 33x12.5x16.5 and some other metric size I forget. Can these be used on 255/85R16 and 285/75R16 tires? How about 235/85R16? I guess I'll just try them on but if someone knows that would be cool.

Thanks.

Andrew

Mine said the same thing, but they fit fine. Seems one size does fit a range of tires.

RUD Tire Chain Tensioners

#39 Post by Doc Tari » Fri Feb 11, 2011 1:52 pm

I've recently joined the ranks of those that have RUD 4x4 Grip tire chains and have had the rubber tensioner break. I've spoken to RUD in the US and they stock spares for $6/pair. I'm planning to place an order and thought I'd see if anyone else was interested. Let me know soon as I'll be ordering mine early next week!

Glen,
Do have a set of these chains? I'm getting the tensioners only not a set of chains, just to be sure...

Hi Pete,

yes they are the same as yours, blue outer chain through a red loop then a thin yellow chain through a chain lock, held on the end by a bungee about 3" long?
Ya same same.

Chains

#46 Post by StuartL » Sun Feb 13, 2011 9:27 am

Hi Pete,

Are you able to order me two set of chains with your order. I missed out on the last order. They would be for my M/T's 235-85/16's. And a spare rubbers of course.

Cheers
