To remove top or not on a 109 Safari wagon for restoration?

I am soon to start helping a buddy restore his '61 Safari wagon (four door). What I am wondering is if we took the roof off the main rear body (behind the rear doors) are we opening up a Pandora's box of issues?

Are there any pros and cons to leaving it in place, or to remove it for cleaning/painting?

Thanks, Pat

It’s easy to remove and reinstall and that will give you a chance to update the seals and mounting hardware, check for stress cracks, and clean in the nooks and crannies.
