The Rover-Landers of BC

Hi all,

One of my wife's cousins kids from Norway is attending school in Squamish via an exchange program. Her parents are coming to visit in March, and they will spend most of their time up in Whistler. We wanted to see them, so we talked them into meeting us in Vancouver on the first Sunday of their trip. Since we'll be coming over the border, my preference would be to meet in North Van and skip all the downtown congestion. I'm hoping you all have suggestions for a good place for a late lunch/early dinner and maybe some interesting sight seeing or other attractions that we can go to without getting mired in traffic.

Just poking around on the web, it looks like it would be fun to hit either the Capilano or Lynn Canyon suspension bridge and then head down to Lonsdale Quay for dinner at one of the area restaurants. Any suggestions?

Hi Bryan,

Yes, both Capilano and Lynn have Suspension bridges. Capilano you pay for entrance but there is lots of other stuff going on there.
Lynn is free to use and has a visitors center and some nice walks.

Lonsdale Quay is a good place to eat and you could get the Seabus over the harbour to Canada Place.

Other suggestions,
Grouse Mountain Gondola ride from Capilano takes you up to the top Grouse mountain where there is a restaurant, outdoor skating Rink and great views.
Horseshoe Bay - between Squamish and North Vancouver has some coastal views and restaurants.
Deep Cove - scenic mountain bay with some good restaurants.

Hopefully you will get good weather as that will make all the difference ...

Wow! We had a great day in North Van yesterday. The Lynn Canyon park is stunning and the restaurant choices down at Lonsdale Quay are very good. We ended up at the Tap and Barrel. I know it's in many Roverlanders' backyard, but check it out - it's worth burning a day for.
