The Rover-Landers of BC

So I've been googling what is up with my heated seats in my Disco 2.

Both seats do not heat up (both the base and the squab)

Lights are on for both switches.

Fuse is good.

Here's where it becomes complicated. I've looked up online how to search for the problem, but some of it is beyond comprehension for me. I'm ok with mechanicals and generally can get around, but auto electrics are not my cup of tea.

What should I be looking for and testing - and if testing with a multimeter what and how?

I find it odd BOTH seats are out. I don't think this could be a broken wire in the actual element. Though I could be wrong on that.

I had the same issue on my 2005 LR3. The lights on the button showed it working - but no heat from the backrest or the base of the seat. Fuses were all good too.
Apparently the heater coil in the base is in series with the heater in the backrest - so if one goes, it affects the other.
I followed these instructions for a Range Rover P38:

It was remarkably similar to my LR3. And I even found a broken wire exactly where they said it was a trouble-spot. Maybe your D2 will be similar too?
The only thing I did differently from the instructions was to reinstall the cover back on to the foam base with zip ties instead of re-using the metal hooks. Soooo much easier and quicker with the zip ties!
Taking the seat out of the truck was straight forward. Stripping it down, repairing, and reinstalling took about 2 hours.
So nice to have heated seats again at this time of year.
