Today at Bonhams in London the 2 millionth Land Rover a Defender 90 was sold at auction for £400,000 or approximately $850,000 Canadian. It went you an undisclosed telephone buyer from out of the country. All proceeds going to the Born Free Foundation and the Red Cross.
I watched it live and it was both entertaining and nice to see such enthusiasm and love for the brand.

In response to Red90, I don't think anyone ever buys a Land Rover for the tax deduction especially at that price.
Given that yesterday at auction Margaret Thatchers used handbags and old tweed suits netted £3.3 million the land rover seems like a bargain.

Sure they do. It was a 100% charity auction. You can write off the value of the payment less the agreed actual value of the item. Charity auction prices have no meaning to the value of the thing purchased. It is pocket change for a lot of people and businesses.
This is why it is surprising it went at such a low price. Bonham's had estimated 2 million pounds.

Heck, it is even a complete write off for Land Rover as the person donating the auction item can write off the total value.
