Omit posting p38 general question

Gentlmen

after a years' absence I'd like to get back in to a rover world.
I just need a general mucking about and camping truck, 110 is my aspiration but not in budget this year with today prices.

There is '98 p38 with the 4.0 that caught my interest
Super clean and everything appears is in good order including air suspention which was recently rebuilt

but I have two question

I always had the impresion that the P38 was to be avoided. But other than rubish MPG is there something I should know that would make a rational man just ignore this option

or if it is good and the price is right is it a ok to drive on lumber roads and such for a couple of years.

The other question Is I want to do a pre- purchase check -
I would normally take it to Don in North VAn but as it in Surrey is there someone closer to surrey who know these well enough to Give it a good once over and understand the forthcomming problems.

thanks for the help Jake
sorry but did a duplicate post on classified forum to to catch all oppertunities for an answer

My experience is that a P38 is a great rig and you get a lot of truck for your buck :)

I've had mine for nearly three years and it has been dependable, it has an awesome ride and does well off road. I don't use it for hard core off roaring but it has been great on the back roads on Vancouver Island and has been able to easily outclimb defenders and jeeps on one trip awhile back where the ice sent the smaller trucks spinning backwards down the hill. Mine is the 4.6 and has been converted to coil springs so I don't have any air suspension woes. I tow with it, use it as a round town driver and pretty much everything else... I like it. PM me if you want to chat more.

Cheers, Rob
