The Rover-Landers of BC

Hi, I am looking to outfit my Disco with a 20L fuel can and water can. Does anyone know where I can find one around Vancouver or the lower mainland? I am looking for a fuel can that is CARB compliant.

I picked up mine from DS Tactical in New West, they have water, gas, and diesel 20L Scepter containers which I believe are CARB compliant.
Lots of other great stuff there, you can easily lose an hour or two just looking through all the stuff!

DS Tactical as well for me, I've seen them at princess auto as well. Though DS is fun to shop at.

I've done a bit of research on "Jerry cans" but not about how they become CARB compliant. Here is what I can offer. As of a few short years ago Canadian and US requirements changed so new plastic j,cans are a different plastic than they used to be and they now have a finish or possibly a coating inside (invisible) to prevent permeation they also have no vent opening, just the spout opening. Okay, I can't explain the military style that still has the vent. The pour spout now draws the displaced air out of the receiving receptical as they fluid is poured in, that's what that pathetic little drinkingstraw device attached to the bottom of the pouring spout is for. It actually works! It is to reduce release of the volatile organic compounds to atmosphere when you pour. As I understand the CARB compliance, the drinking straw equipped spout isn't good enough. You have to have a spout that has a built in valve that automatically shuts off when the receiving receptical is full or when the spout isn't in place to fill a container. A couple years ago our Canadian Tire store stock was about 30% this style. Today they have none. Probably because nobody wanted to spend 40 percent more for the same j,can just because it had a spout nobody could understand. You can buy the spout separately, it will be hanging in a package right beside the j,can collection and costs $8.99.

These are the ones at DS Tactical (all plastic Scepter can), water containers on the left, fuel containers on the right. They also have a bunch of attachments for pouring and venting options. New seals and caps if anyone has old leaky ones ...

I don't believe that the NATO style fuel cans sold at DS Tactical are CARB compliant. These are only available to Homeland Security and the Military in the US, not to the general public.

I believe the Scepter 20L cans at DS Tactical are CARB compliant if they have the correct nozzle .... (its all about nozzle!) :shock:

You're right! It is all about the spout. I went there yesterday. They have the cans, but not the CARB-compliant (aka spill-proof) spouts.

I think that should read, I need 5 fuel cans for my Disco :D

We moved from Portland, Oregon last year to BC. We sill visit friends occasionally. Fort Stevens, the sand dunes and camping out at the beach is one of our favorite activities. I am also planning to do some overlanding trips in the future in California. I understand my fuel tanks may be checked when I cross the border and at the state parks.
