Wildcat Automotive has managed to shoehorn the Corvette 6.2 liter LS3 small block V8 into the engine compartment of the Defender. The result is complete and utter on/off-road madness in the form of 430 horsepower.
Even better, Wildcat will gladly bump that figure to 550 horsepower with additional performance upgrades.
Check it out....

Still takes 6.5 seconds to do the 0-60...I see they have it electronically restricted to 120mph as well, to avoid stains on those orange leather seats!
The weight and the aerodynamics of a small house have something to do with it!
My 3.8 Hyundai Genesis has 333 horses and does 0-60 in under 6. Occasionally. But weighs considerably less and doesn't give you any squeaky bum moments!

This guy over in Australia shoehorned a 6.6l Duramax under the hood! I see many broken axle shafts in his future!

Yep, a car is like a chain. It's only as good as the weakest link. Even riding in a new Range Rover Sport Supercharged at the Mission Speedway showed that. It was insanely, blindingly fast, (and great fun) but it was the brakes and the need to get quite a few tons to go around a corner that proved the limit. It was still far, far better than any 4x4 has a right to be, but I doubt a few more hundred bhp would really have made any difference.
I think JLR limits the brand new Defenders to 90mph. I don't think I'd want to be going much faster in one, even with a bigger engine.
