The Rover-Landers of BC

This looks interesting, mainly because there is a Range Rover Classic and Land Rover Defender in the crazy mix attempting to cross Alaska off road .... certainly some "colourful" charactors ....

Journeying from the Pacific Ocean to the Arctic Ocean, this is an intense expedition and an adventure of epic proportions. The trails will be divided into two legs and the team with the lowest aggregated time from all the trails will be named the winner. Which team will be the victor of this quest to find out who can navigate the extreme wilderness of Alaska?

Rip off! The RRC is only in the adds and not in the program.

I'll still watch for the 90 but was really hoping for the RRC as well.

I watched this last night. The 90 was a RHD one as well.

The usual over-dramatised stuff, although they all seem determined to break their vehicles.

I'm sure there was a RRC and a 110 in the adverts/trailers for it too...

The guy driving the 90 bought it at the "last minute" for the race instead of running his RRC. The preview and trailers were shot earlier before the race itself. He put the 90 together quite quickly.

It is a basically stock TDI 90. He can't say a lot at the moment, but it basically sounds like they wanted the level of mods fairly low as it would be boring watching built rigs easily drive everything.

I did not notice the 110, but it might be Ed Angel's. He had said he pre-ran all of the trails and set up markers. He has some very seriously built trucks.

Some of those rigs look pretty scabbed together, i.e. that superjeep. And my guess is that ifs over heating 4runner won't last long.

Typical. Jeepers making a mess, and the Land Rover guy treading lightly. This show actually rather angers me, because it has brought out the worst in the off-roading community. Every man for himself, and bashing through the brush without a care in the world, does not help anybody. $100,000 or not, this is not helping keeping clean trails for everybody to enjoy open!

What sort of Land Rover is he driving? It has a 300 Tdi, coil sprung front end and a standard leaf springs in the rear but has the wide axles of a 90.

It is a regular 90 with a 300TDI. It does not have leaf springs. That is just TV sillyness showing axle shots from a Series....

Well as it turns out THERE IS A SERIES in this stupid show..
Been watching it here and there( as dumb as its is) looks like the rover boys burned out the D90 and came back with a Series llA.
Pretty cool now that there is a series land rover in this silly show. Might try to catch it more often to see how it does.
Looks like they are running 35" Muds on the Series .

Just finished watching this show. Maybe it's editing but the Landrover guy sure seems like a wanker!

In fact, they are pretty much all wankers apart from the woman and the driver of the truck with the camouflaged wanker who is scared of heights....

Oh...and where are the crew and the fuel tanker hiding????

I bet the fuel and supplies are all helicoptered in at points.
Can't carrier that much fuel in your rig.

They were not out for two weeks straight and they did not actually cross Alaska. They were out for a few days and then back to the city. Shot over the whole summer.

So what they never actually went from south to north as it shows on the map?

LOL. No, it is a TV show. There is no way to actually drive what is shown on the map. Sound like they went out for 2 or 3 days at a time, then back to town and out again. Just some different trails.

I was so appalled by the usual TV violence and bad language in the first episode I gave it a pass for the next couple but have come back to it and actually find it interesting - not the violence and bad language but the vehicles and their capabilities and varieties - especially now that there is a Series involved - and the vast landscape and scenery. I am sure there is a whole other reality to this "reality" show but the driving part is interesting as long as you can get past the bozo factor.
