Series III 88" diffs

The rear end on my 88 has a lot of free play and I was wondering if I could replace the center section with a spare front end center section I have as a spare?

If you mean the "third member" as in the differential unit. Yes, they are the same. Slop can be axle wear between the splines on the axle and dif. side gears (spider gears) and also on the splines at the drive flange at the wheel hub. The backlash of the crown and pinion gear can also be needing adjustment or simply put in your spare unit.

Yes, I was referring to the third member. Thanks for the information.
