I was given the lead that this Series 1 is going to be crushed. It's at the Payless lot in Whistler. I was told it doesn't have a motor but I don't have any other info.

In response to the sad news about the impending demise of the series I in Whistler, I contacted Peter Baker of 3 brothers classic Land rover in Ontario. He replied almost immediately asking for the help on any BC roverlanders in saving the series I from crushing. Likely the value of the vehicle to the whistler compound is only a few hundred dollars. There are series I restoration enthusiasts who are In need of some rare parts from the vehicle, if not actually wanting to restore her. Please if someone is able to rescue the vehicle Peter will assist in getting it to an interested party. He is contacting some owners now, and will be watching this space.

I live in Saskatchewan, otherwise would have tried to get to Whistler myself.

Hopeful of a positive outcome for the old land rover.

Ian

If there are interested parties I can save this truck. I just can't keep it for very long.

You have to love folks that are willing to send a rare vehicle to the metal scrap yard, collecting $200 or $300 at the most, and then ask $500 when someone indicates an interest. Their mother must be proud...
If we were a little closer, (a few provinces in between us and the soon to be flattened Series 1), we would certainly step in and help.
Instead, 3 Brothers will send a $150 Gift Certificate, (redeemable in parts), to the person that buys the truck, saving it from being turned into tin cans.

I've got a spare tranny and transfer case, and I'm sure Andre has a few engines. If the frame is okay, and it has papers, I can do 500.

My daughter who lives up in Whistler is going to swing by and take some pictures. I'll post them up when received.
I too spoke with the towing company who said that it is a local 1951 series 1' that the owner was planning on putting in an electric motor...hence the lack of driveline.

Anyone know what happened to this Series 1? Just curious and hoping it found a better home than the crusher...

If someone can give me the contact info I can send money to buy and save this rover. I can also trailer it back to Victoria as well.
Cheers
