Rear seal.
Hey there. when i checked and adjusted my brakes I found the right rear drum wet (inside) with gear oil. I cleaned it but need to replace the seal/gasket... I don't have a manual or parts book so I'm not sure what there is to leak there. Anyone able to tell me what to order? i don't want to take it apart again until I'm ready to fix it.

Gear oil from the hub seal, most likely RTC3510. Try to make sure you get quality ones and make sure the seal running surface is good. The design is the same as any traditional full floating hub. Or it could be the flange to the axle.

If you are not already a member of the series 2 club you should be. It is the place to go for any series 2 or 2a Rover owner. Any problem you have will be answered fast and usuaully with photos. Great club with a really good search engine. You need to sign up to ask questions and see all the photos that come up. It is free to sign up to post on the forum.
Rover landers is great we have a lot of very smart fellows on here but for a series 2 owner you can not beat the knowledge some of the guys in the series 2 club have.

It could also be your rear brake cylinder, I had the same problem on my 109 and it ended up being the rubber seal leaking over time. Sometimes grit gets into the piston area and creates a leak. If your pads are wet also you will have to change them out.

Most likely the hub oil seal. I have mine pulled apart if u want to check it out next time you're in parksville.
When you do the job check your breathers at the same time. If theyre blocked the pressure will cause seals to go...

Thanks for the help. I nee to sort it quick. I'm pretty sure it's gear oil as it doesn't feel like brake fluid and there is no indication of leaks at the cyl. as for contamination... I have a "trade secret" to fix that. It's not recommended but it CAN work. taught me by an old Dutch mechanic years ago.
