The Rover-Landers of BC

I was thinking about a sort of cage/roof rack I could build so i can transport a canoe (or XYZ) while having a soft top.. or no top on my S2. I couldn't find any pics on the google. anyone have one? How could I mount it? The newer Wrangler (Jeep) ones bolt through the body, but I'm not sure I want any more holes in my truck, or if the Aluminium would support the weight.

The soft top sticks are galvanized steel. You would obviously need holes in the top. I'm not sure the stick could support much weight. Were it me, I would build a new stick set that is designed to act as rollover protection as well and at the same time add extensions to hold a rack.

no.... I mean mounting the rack to the Aluminium body. I want to be able to use my soft tp. hard top or NO top with the rack.

The body structure where you would attach is steel. That photo below is not my cup of tea, but to each their own. I would still do what I've suggested. These trucks have zero rollover protection and that should be added regardless.

Good thought, but I'm not terribly concerned about Roll overs at this point. Just transporting a canoe :)

I'm thinking bumper as opposed to body mounted after finding the above pic.

The most common point to mount on a Land Rover is the windshield hinge bolt. At the rear there are already re-enforced holes in the rear cross-member to add a support like in the Jeep picture.
