Center brake light

So in preparation for my move to BC ( here's hoping my house sells soon) I want to start getting the 110 ready for another provinces inspectection. I need to source a rear brake light to mount above the rear door. I checked Princess Auto and found nothing suitable. I was just going to wire it off the left or right lights. Any ideas or suggestions. Also the reflectors for the amber front and rear red, do they have to be any special size?I read here that they must be approved DOT and not just the reflective tape. I also downloaded the inspection checklist from the site (thanks).
Ken,

What back door has your 110 got?
If it has a more recent door with heater element and brake light mounting bolts in the glass, the answer is a bit easier!

NO it is definitely not newer. I think I might have found away by building an L bracket to suspend the light off of. Today I acquired a brake light that sat on the back deck of a old car. I will turn it upside down and mount it to the bracket and tap into the brake lights. I will just have to remember to duck a little bit more when getting into the rear compartment.

I remember when centre brake lights first appeared, there were MANY aftermarket options available at good prices for those wanting to retrofit them into vehicles. There's probably still some available.

well I think I got it working and attached just off of center but that was where a convenient hole was for the wires to go thru. Light came from NAPA and I also got some DOT approved reflectors stuck on. Here's hoping,

Reflectors. You can get hard plastic sticky ones at any auto Parts stores They will be stampped DOT or at least SAE. These are fine.
For CHMSL (centre high mount stop light) I used to buy ones with adhesive which allowed mounting in the rear window. Here is a link that shows the one I used.
It's tidy and easy. and you don't cut up your car.

Hit the wrecker as well. Some GM vans and SUVs had CHMSLs that attached to the roof. They have LEDs inside and look good because they are low profile.

Lol.. I see you sourced one. Good stuff. Well maybe someone else can benefit from my post :)
BTW I have also salvaged third brake lights from RRCs for other vehicles.

Thanks for the help and the link. If this light doesn't pass I will look up the one from the website. I fixed the mounting to dead center as it looked too off. I stuck it on with some silicone and survived some rough bouncing and a lot of mud down a mud trail to the range tonite.

That will (probably) pass.
If it's a RHD they will probably check your glass for SAE codes and tires and head lights, plus your overall mechanical condition. If you have questions just ask or PM. It's been a while, but I did a few of these in my day.

for the rear third brake light on My D110 I used the LED brakelight off of a Leer contractor canopy .
IMHO it looks like it belongs there
