Valve seat

Can I run unleaded fuel in a 1980 2.3 gas Series III without a fuel additive or do I need to have harden valve seats installed?
I believe by 1980 land rover had switched to hardened valve seats on their heads, so if the engine is original on this truck it would be ok. Most people run with unleaded in their trucks with no additive, you'd have to put a lot of km's on a truck to start seeing valve wear from a non hardened valve seat, most likely something else will break before then!
