A question for the Vancouver members...
I'm selling a 1992 110 200Tdi Defender and have an interested party in Vancouver.
How do air care inspections work for these European diesels? Does anyone have experience submitting one for the tests? What spec to they have to meet to pass? Is it a generic spec for diesels made in 1992 or is there a specific spec for Land Rover diesels?
Living on the Island, I don't have any experience with the Aircare system.
Regards,
Paul in Victoria

Re: 200 Tdi Defender Air Care Inspection Question
Hi Paul,
Just put my 91 thru Aircare a couple of weeks ago in Richmond (300tdi) it is fairly easy to get them to put it thru a idle test only and the parameters seem to be very easy to pass. I would think it would have to be a real smoker before it fails.

Re: 200 Tdi Defender Air Care Inspection Question
Thanks Andy,
I read through the Air Care website and the test does seem to be very basic.
I have the Controle Techique (French MOT) tests on this truck and they include an Opacity test that it did pass last year in France.
The units of measurement on the French test are different. The results say: C1: 0.79m-1 C2: 1.05m-1
I imagine this is similar to BC's percentage results?
Paul.

Re: 200 Tdi Defender Air Care Inspection Question
Hi Paul,
I've been taking my 90 200tdi through the Aircare test for ten years now. My truck is about due to go through again, around this time of year (winter) I have my studded tires mounted so unfortunately am only allowed to go through the idle test. Studs are not permitted on the dyno rollers. The idle test result numbers are always a very small fraction of the allowable limit.
