I just discovered one of the the release pulls for the folding middle row seat is broken (for the 60 double seat). Can anyone tell me how to access the release mechanism to repair/replace the pull handle.
Thank you.

Re: Help with 1999 defender 110 TD5 middle row seats...
Thanks for the offer Andy. I ordered the pull handle and the linkage from LR Richmond and picked them up last week and decided to tackle the job this weekend.
This is how I did it...
The pull handle was still in good condition, but the linkage was broken just below the pull handle. I tried pulling up on the broken linkage with needle nose pliers, but it was very awkward and the pliers were too short. The only option was to take apart the seats and hope to slide the latch from the locking mechanism. I first unbolted the bottom seat portion which allowed me to access the bolts attaching the seat back. Once the seat back was separated from the bottom I was able to manipulate and muscle the latch from the locking mechanism.
The next step is to remove the plastic finishing panel (5 or 6 screws). This will allow you to access the metal plate securing the locking mechanism. The locking mechanism is held on by 6 screws (I think). Once removed it takes a bit of manipulation to remove the latch pull mechanism. The locking mechanism is relatively simple to repair ... Just make sure you assemble all the parts first before you re-insert the mechanism ... It doesn't look like it will fit but it just takes some twisting.
Once reassembled, the seats worked like a charm.
If anyone else needs help, I am willing to walk you through how I did it.
Now, if there is a secret release mechanism that I didn't know about...just ignore my post.
