The Rover-Landers of BC

Hi All,
I’m after a bit of advice. On the Poison Mtn trip, the Disco’s two extra DC power points stopped working. (see photo 1) The previous owner, who installed them, suggested taking up the centre console to see what’s up. I did, with the help of the Workshop Manaul. (MUCH easier said than done… photo 2)
The wires to the power points looked good. They come from an inverter (currently NOT working) under the passenger seat. Since the wires to the power points looked good, I decided to trace them all the way from the battery to the inverter to see what was going on. The wires’ first stop was an ‘in line’ 80 Amp fuse (see photo 3). I put the voltmeter across it and got nothing. So, I disconnected the battery and I took the fuse out. Once out of the car, the fuse registered as ‘good’ (zero resistance). I decided to put it back in where I found it and move on…
When I put it back, the DC plugs started working?!?!? What’s up with that? I’m very happy they’re working. I’d like to think I did something after spending a few hours disassembling the car, but what? Why are the now working? How do I make sure they KEEP working? :shock: :?:

Much thanks as always. On the good news side, discovered the socket for the lights that light the PRND321 on the gear selector. Get a new one and I should be all set there. :D

PS: I found this wire under the passenger seat. Any idea what it is supposed to do? (photo 4) thx

Don't know what that wiring is for, but I wouldn't be asking any questions. It's working, and I wouldn't anger the carma gods when it comes to electrical. :lol:

Cleaning and re-seating suspect wire connections (ground and power) and fuses is one of the first steps to perform in troubleshooting electrical connections. Having performed this step you have solved the problem - job done. Unless the fuse socket looks damaged from heat or exhibited some other defect then you should be good to go.
