110 V8 performance question

Hello everyone.
Anyone out there experienced in driving a 110 5 door equipped with a 3.9 rover V8 and 5spd manual transmission? I am curious to know how well they perform with the V8 as a daily driver. How does the drive compare to an RRC or Disco?

Used to have a Disco II...and now a Stage 1 that had a 3.9 swapped in by the PO.
Don't really notice that much of a difference...other than its noisier now. And doesn't go as fast...or have as good acceleration. Way worse on gas now too.
Yep, other than those things, seems the same! :D

Ditching the Lucas ems and installing Megasquirt can improve fuel economy... of cause that only works on efi engines, but it's a V8, so who cares :D

I would say go for the diesel. I have a classic with a 4.2, and it can be easily outruned by a VW Golf. Granted it is a auto, but I really couldn't see it doing any better with a 5 speed. Not to mention its a absolute pig on fuel.
