Modifying your vehicle

Hey,

I'm after some Newbie advice here.

I've been looking for a cheap off-roading Rover.

I found a nice one down in Washington. It fits the bill, and has a good mechanical history. It has a 2" lift and a big bumper on the front with a winch. I thought importing it would be a doddle as it's a 1997 Disco I and over the 15 years old. However, Transport Canada says the car 'cannot be modified, except by normal repairs.'

Anyone have any more info on this? What are the regs here in BC for mods? How easily is a moded truck returned to 'stock' condition?

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Craig

I brought one over (d90) last month. Neither side even looked at the vehicle... They just asked if I had the paperwork in order... It had a three inch lift and was running 33... As long as you don't have 35s or something on it I wouldn't worry. If you want any info let me know...

I agree, I doubt they will know (or care) on the border what is stock and what is modified .... as long as you have all the correct paperwork.

A lot of modified parts could of been dealer / factory supplied and fitted, so how do you even determine "modified"?

When I imported mine from the UK it came heavily modified... no issues. As long as your paperwork is all correct at the boarder I doubt you'll have any problems.... there more interested in finding drugs that if your truck has a 2" lift
