Taking unlicensed dirt bikes into USA

Does anyone have experience bringing unlicensed canadian dirt bikes into the USA on a holiday? I am thinking of bringing my trail-bike and my kids mini-bikes down to the US to do some riding together in Nevada and Arizona, but I am not sure what the steps are to bring them across the border. Basically I want to ensure that when I bring them back to Canada, there is no issue of "how do we know you didn't buy these bikes in the USA", etc.

As these are dirt-only bikes (no lights, etc) they have no paperwork.

A few years ago when I was passing thru Washington with a 109 full of tools, and gear of every sort, I stopped at the border crossing and they put stickers on a bunch of stuff.

I can't remember if it was Canadian or US side that did it, I think Canadian but a quick phone call would confirm.

You might need insurance on those bike to be legal down there. See you ICBC dealer.
