The 4.0 v8 in my 2001 D2 has been a pretty reliable the past few years but I am wondering how it compares to the 4.6 motor option for long term durability and repair costs. I would appreciate hearing from some 4.6 owners to hear about their "motor" experiences.
Cheers, Rob

gerry here in Prince George .
our 2004 disco 11 4.6 v8 has just turned the clock @ 100,000 kms .
other than regular scheduled maintenance [ oil changes , filters , plugs , belts , hoses ] we had to :
1) replace the h20 pump @ 17,000 kms
2) replace the oil pan gasket @ 46,000 kms
3) replace the head gaskets @ 65,000 kms
4) replace the throttle body kit @ 65,000 kms
5) replaced 1 ignition coil and plug wires @ 78,000 kms
the motor runs strong and is a gas hog [ burns premium ] . no issues with the vehicle overall having spent 5 winters here in PG .
