Staying home with my sick Son on Saturday, I decided to do the drive across Mt. Provost to Sicker road on Sunday. The snows did a great job, but when getting past the culvert ditches, the D2 started plowing enough snow that forward progress was finally stopped (shoveling all the way down Sicker didn't seem like a task I wanted). I was able to back up -- for what felt like a very long time -- and turn around, but I was a bit concerned it was going to be a long walk back.

Looks like I "need" the 2" lift blocks after all...

The lift blocks will only lift the body and your axles will still be at the same clearance. You would be better off getting a set of chains, maybe some maxtracks...and better yet another truck to assist with recovery...first rule of thumb don't go alone!

I know I was foolish for doing the run alone. Usually it's a nice, easy, dirt road (with decomissioned culverts and steep cliffs on one side), but this time the snow was very wet and heavy.

I understand that the lift wouldn't change how high the axles are, but the snow was deep enough to have the front valence plow and the frame sit right on top of it. I thought that maybe the body being a bit higher may have helped.

Installing the transfer case lock cable and limited slips diffs would probably assist too. One project at a time...
