Hi All,
There are a few Land Rovers heading out on a run this weekend to the Ochi Basin, off Molybdenite Creek, south of Lillooet. This run takes you up to over 8000ft and amazing views in all directions. Also a trip to Blowdown pass on the second day.
The general plan will be head up to Texas Creek / Ochi Basin ridge, Molybdenite Creek on the Saturday morning, camping out Saturday night.
Back down to the highway at Duffey lake on Sunday morning (this will be the option to head for home for those needing to get home early) then the rest of the group can head up the stunning vista of Blowdown Pass for lunch at the "Top of the World' view point.
This area will get shut off by snow in a few weeks so last chance to go this year
More details to follow, the meeting point will probably be near Lilooet on Saturday morning.
Let us know if you are planning to come along or if you have any questions,
Cheers, Andy

It's been snowing at the top of Whistler at 6100 feet. See image below from today's web cam.

We more than likely hit snow. And so it begins....

Blackcomb at the Rendezvous Lodge (Peak to Peak lift) 2 days ago. Only about 10 cm snow...but still snowing lightly.

Andy...so that is the plan? Meet at the Texas Creek Rec Site at 10:00am? The Blairs are going to welcome us with breakfast...hmmmm sounds good
I may run up to my daughters place and overnight in Pemberton on Friday. What route are you taking? If you go up 99 I could meet you there and we could convoy in.

Just back!
Without a doubt Ochi and Blowdown was one of the best runs i have "ever, ever" been on.
Stunning vistas, on top of the world. 8100 ft on Saturday, 7200 ft today looking down into the Stein Valley.
...and yes on Ochi ridge, when i was sliding backwards in the snow...the pucker factor was in full force
Pics and video to come!

Here's the track logs and descriptions for this weekends outing:
From our meeting spot in Lillooet to the top of Ochi Bowl
http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=1321064
A climb from 650 feet in the valley bottom to 8300 feet at the turn around. Definitely the highest road I've ever been on in BC
Molybdenite Lake. A steep little climb to a spectacular but very chilly lake

This is the track log from the lake back down to the main road. Unfortunately due to a comms error, only two trucks got to the lake
Blowdown Pass. Unbelievable views as you climb towards the entrance to the Stein Valley.

Thanks, Andy for planning this trip!

The road up to the 8000ft peak was not for the nervous driver!

Pausing for a break.... only another 1000ft to go!

Great pics guys. I've been doing videos, but theres something to be said about what a still image encompasses that the video doesn't.
