The Rover-Landers of BC

We are visiting BC for 10-12 days from June 16 th and would like to drive some of the backroads in a rental 4x4 Can you suggest which areas would be best for a few days, camping and 4 wheeling . I thought of Kootenay, Kamloops and Kelowna I see from a previous post that I can download free digital maps. Is the backroads mapbook also a good idea At home in the UK I have a 1992 Classic RR and we belong to GLASS Green Lane Association

the backroads mapbook is pretty good for places you could take a stock rental 4x4 , another tip for off roading in a rental is while the vehicle is still clean , stop at a supermarket and purchase some non stick cooking spray ( Pam etc.. ) and spray down the wheel wells , bumpers , running boards , cowl etc.. it makes it so much easier to give the truck a quick spray at a coin-op car wash and hide the evidence of your adventures
