any suggestions on what type of jack i should carry in the 110? I do very little offroading , need something for road repairs, the 110 came with what looks like the base of a jack, missing the actual jack.

A hydraulic bottle jack works fine. The stock jack is a bit "different".

Not really. Just anything decent.

Go for a minimum 2 or 3 ton. They both have larger surface contact area's than the cheaper 1.5 Ton.

Canadian Tire has a good selection. You can store it in the seat box.

I personally like Hi-Lifts, easier to use, plus in a "pinch" you can use it to winch yourself out of trouble. Get the mounting brackets and store it securely in the back.

hey dave what size hi lift do you use? a guy an kijiji here in calgary is selling a 48" hi lift extreme, seems big, i just looked and they come in 36", 42" and 48". let me know.

It's a 48"

Jeff, Hi Lift Jacks are great tools but can be a bit dangerous. If you haven't worked with them before ask for some tips or do some reading up.

If you are primarily looking for a jack to change a tire, it is hard to beat a hydraulic bottle jack.

Yes, changing a tyre on a Defender is not a good job for a hi-lift. You need to lift too highand they are not stable.

Yes Hi-Lifts can be unstable if used incorrectly, however I always carry a couple of folding metal wheel chucks with me for stability, and if I'm doing it at home, I jack it up and then throw in a couple of axle stands for safety.

I do also have the standard military bottle screw jack under the seat.
