Interco Truxus M/T Tires

OK I'm Looking for opinions on Interco's new Truxus (Spelling?) M/T tires. Dixon was running a set on his 110 at Founder's Day but hadn't had them long enough for a proper assessment. They have a very open tread pattern which may lead to premature wearing but they also have a killer 10 ply sidewall on most sizes and an 8 ply on a couple of useable 16" sizes. The tread blocks are well siped for wet weather usage. I'm thinkin' that these might be worth a try for the carcus strength alone. Price isn't bad for an Interco tire either at approx. $175 a piece. I didn't post this for an avalanche of "my favorite tire is...." commentary but simply for actual opinion or experience with these tires in particular :D

Nothing really useful to say other than I to, at one time was considering these as a potential replacement for my Trac Edge's when they wear out. Have not had to think much about in yet though as I don't put many miles on the Range Rover these days. There are some reviews on the net, but I am sure you have read those already. It is funny though, when it comes to side walls I tend to go the other way. I am very happy with the Trac Edge tires as they have a relatively thin/supple sidewall which means that I don't have to reduce my tire pressures ridiculously (in my opinion) low for offroad use, which in itself leads to greater susceptibility for sidewall damage or losing a bead. As I recall, it is only on the 16" sizes that the TRXus tires have the really heavy sidewall, I guess for use on larger pick-ups which weigh much more than our svelt Rover products.
Good luck in your decision.

I have had them for three years. IME, they the best all around off road capable tire made. Good in all conditions. Not "great" like a condition specific tire, but good traction in everything I have run, mud, rocks, dirt, snow, ice, pavement. No cuts or chunking yet. No measurable wear, but I don't do a lot of miles.
Before these I had BFG M/T and I find these a big improvement especially on hard wet surfaces.
A few others around here have changed to them also based on my experience and have been very happy.

Thanks John and Red 90,
John, the reason I tend to prefer multi ply sidewalls is for the anti rock to rim pinch factor and for the better resistance to the tire peeling of the rim at lower pressures. Your point is well taken though that you don't have to air down as low to get flexibility out of the carcass. Red 90, could you let me know what size your running please.

They do not have 8 or 10 ply sidewalls. Those are the tread ply. Side walls are 2 ply. They are very strong though. I have seen a stick poking 4" into a sidewall and it did not cause any damage.
I have 235/85/16. I stayed small because of the 2.5NA not having much power. A friend with a V8 90 is running 285/75/16 which is a nice size and fits without any mods. When I go to a TDI, I'll be going bigger.

Thanks Red 90, my mistake about the sidewall construction. The tires look great.
