One of the guys on the Northwest Overland Society has come across a bulk purchase of sand ladder material from a used metal dealer in the US. These were used to put together temporary airfield runways starting back in WWII. Each section is 10 feet long and can be cut in half to create two 5 foot sand ladders.

This is a photo of the actual stock. They are steel, and appear to have been galvanized, but are obviously weathered at this time.

The cost will be between $90 & $100 US per 10 foot section, and they're hoping to get them pre-cut.

If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll add your name to the list...

cheers, Dave

It's Marsden Matting, made by many manufacturers, high manganese steel, but I'm not sure the actual thickness.
