I would recommend highly getting a pair of H4 housings with replaceable bulbs and a GLASS lens. Most autoparts stores should be able to order them in for you but ebay will probabally be your cheapest bet. Search ' 7" H4 Headlight' on ebay for examples. Just make sure you look for a dot aproval on them.

I updated the lights in my 60 ford car this summer with 4 H4 housings, quality bulbs, and relays. It made a huge improvement in visibility over the standard sealed beams.

I would recommend the 7.95 sealed beams from Canadian Tire until after you go through inspection, and any additional lights be left off as well. I've heard of several cases where the truck failed the inspection due to aftermarket lighting, including those nice Bosch or Hella H4 kits. And, if you follow the instructions on the thread that red90 pointed out, you'll find that a halogen sealed beam becomes competitive in brightness to an H4 housing.

The H4 kit is always superior, but I'd just put in stock seal beams to pass your inspection.

Just my opinion, though. Dave

Last time I purchased them at canuck tire they were about $7.95 each, but that was about 4 years ago. Inflation has likely set in by now...

I think stock sealed beam halogens cost around $12.00 now. They are great inexpensive lights almost as good as H-4's.
J$%p tj's use the same ones, when I got my 6 year old J$#p last year the stock sealed beam's were so dim it was dangerous. This is what happens to lights after 100's of hours of use and in Canada with daytime running lights head lights do not last long. The bulb starts going black from heat and the light output goes way down. Take a close look at a old headlight some time, the black on the filament is very evident.
So you go and buy super expensive lights that end up blinding oncoming traffic and all that is really needed is a nice NEW set of stock halogens.
I did run one sealed beam and one H-4 at the same time and there was not much differance. Victor
