series 5 door body on a 110

#1 Post by dan » Wed Sep 22, 2010 8:12 pm

What would be involved in fitting a series 5 door body( just from the rear bulk head) to a 1986 110 3 door? Will the 5 door body fit in nicely? Or are there big issues? How different are the series body from the 110?

I've seen similar done, for example Rick in Salmon Arm has a 109 5 door built on a stretched Discovery frame. In all cases it's gonna require some modification to make it work as the attachment points and outriggers are quite different.

Might be worth finding a copy of the 4x4 is born video series before you start as that's about making a 100 inch hybrid, but much of the work will be similar.

Do you already have the 109 body and 110 frame? If not, you might consider getting only the Series sheetmetal from the bulkhead forward. I've never done it but it seems like it would be far less work...

Pete, I think part of the appeal is he wants to make a 3 door into a 5 door.
